Pacific View Estates is the westernmost neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles adjacent to Sunset Mesa part of unincorporated Malibu. Although technically in the city of Malibu, it’s also sometimes referred to as part of the Pacific Palisades area as well. This community is located just above the Pacific Coast Highway next to Getta Villa.
This community features primarily oceanview estate homes between the Sunset Mesa Malibu community and Castellamare. The community features small winding roads ending at the top of the hillside. Because of this, most homes have beautiful views except those with thick landscaping. Nearly all the homes are short distance to the beach with easy access to the downtown Village area of Pacific Palisades. Most of these homes were built in the 1960s and several feature backyard swimming pools, extensive landscaping, gorgeous views, private backyards, formal dining and living rooms, and larger lots.
You’ll find dozens of contemporary, traditional, and custom homes with unique materials, finishes, and luxury amenities. From swimming pools and tennis courts to hammocks, gazebos, and backyard lanai’s, there is no shortage of luxury features in Pacific View Estates.
Pacific View Estates is home to the Getty Villa located at 17985 Pacific Coast Hwy. in Pacific Palisades. Located at the easterly end of the Malibu Coast, the Village is one of two locations of the J Paul Getty Museum. The village is an educational center and museum dedicated to the city of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The village is home to 44,000 antiques dating from 6500 BC to 400 A.D. This 64-acre Museum complex sits on a hill overlooking the Pacific ocean, which is less than 100 feet from the entrance to the property. It offers an outdoor 2500-square-foot entry Pavel in as well as a 248-car, four-story, South parking garage. There’s a 450-seat outdoor Greek theater with evening performances and a three-story, 15,500-square-foot theater building built into the hill that contains the Museum Store, a Café, and a private dining room. There are also four distinct gardens on the grounds with native plants to the Mediterranean climate and an exact proportional replica of the garden at Villa dei Papiri. For history buffs in Roman and Greek architecture and art, nothing beats a visit to the Getty Villa.
Residents are part of the Los Angeles Unified school district and are served by the Marquez Charter School, the Paul Revere middle school, and the Palisades charter high school. These schools are between one and four and a half miles from Pacific View Estates. All of the schools rank an 8 out of 10 for academics, graduation rates, and educational programs.
