Rustic Canyon is a residential neighborhood in eastern Pacific Palisades on the west side of Los Angeles. The neighborhood runs along Rustic Creek and the Santa Monica Mountains. This is primarily residential community is comprised of single-family homes and very little if any commercial buildings. The closest amenities are in the Santa Monica Canyon at the Pacific Coast Highway with restaurants, shops, and markets.

The Uplifters
Rustic Canyon is known for a group called the uplifters or the uplifters Ranch. This was a well-to-do social club during prohibition and was an offshoot of the Los Angeles athletic club. Today, this club is now a public park run by the city of Los Angeles. There’s a eucalyptus grove planted by Abbott Kinney and is perfect for a secluded location, picnic, or just to enjoy the area.
The Uplifters developed the area with Will Rogers whose Ranch an estate lay on the other side of Sunset Boulevard. This high-class drinking club was made up of prominent local politicians and wealthy residents. This secluded location provided the perfect retreat for the wealthy and powerful members of the club. Today, sign reading “Uplifters Ranch” hangs over Latimer Road near the former uplifters clubhouse designed by William J Dodd. The club disbanded in 1947 and residents now enjoy the recreational facility and surrounding homes still maintaining that secluded and quiet feel.
Schools
Residents are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and students are assigned to the Canyon Elementary school, the Paul Revere middle school, and the Palisades charter high school. The Everest value school and Josh Pomeroy Widney high school, as well as the Whitman continuation school, are also assigned to this community.
